Weekly Newsletter #2

Good Morning, welcome to week 3 of social distancing and E-Learning! There are a few announcements this week.

REMINDERS

We want to make sure that everyone is filling out the attendance and wellness checker forms. There are links in the resources section of the classwork tab on google classroom. Don't forget to fill out attendance!

NO MORE ZOOM

Teachers in the NYC DOE are not longer permitted to use zoom for communicating or delivering instruction due to security issues. We have been directed to use google meet or Microsoft teams. I will choose one of these platforms and post links for office hours.

REGENTS EXAMS

The state assembly is meeting today and tomorrow to discuss and decide the fate of the regents exams. Hopefully we will know by Wednesday if the exams are a go.

MARKING PERIOD 3 and 4

Administration has decided to submit grades for marking period 3 and separate all E-Learning grades into marking period 4. Teachers have been given a short window to enter grades for MP3. Please log into pupilpath to check marking period 3 scores. Remember that a large number of assignments were abandoned in the school building. These assignments will remain blank and will not affect your average.

A NOTE ON COVID-19

The CDC has recently released information regarding the wearing of face protection when leaving your homes. While it is still very important to leave home ONLY for necessary reasons, when doing so wearing protective items on the face are now being recommended. Recent research confirms that SARS-CoV-2 can be transmitted by asymptomatic people (people with no symptoms) through aerosol droplets from coughing, sneezing and even talking in close proximity. These face protective items do not need to be surgical masks or N95 respirators. An effective face shield can be made from an old tee-shirt. The CDC has released videos on the topic, check the COVID-19 resources section videos for information.

Stay well everyone. Keep your distance from others and wash your hands!
